POSITION SUMMARY
Building upon the foundation of technical design and illustration expertise, the Technical Illustrator / Designer is responsible for creating and developing high-quality technical illustrations, installation guides, and marketing assets that support product launches and internal processes. This role involves close collaboration with multiple departments, including R&D, CAD, and Marketing, to ensure consistency and accuracy in visual communication. Additionally, the role focuses on enhancing technical content, creating detailed exploded views, and contributing to the company’s innovation initiatives. The position includes supporting product development with visual assets and assisting in the final formatting of graphic content for marketing purposes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Illustration and Content Development:
- Create complex technical illustrations and detail drawing packages for installation guides and product documentation.
- Develop exploded views of products and sub-assemblies using 3D models and BOMs provided by the product development team.
- Finalize and format graphic content for use in marketing and technical documentation.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Collaborate with R&D, CAD, and Marketing teams to implement digital assets for existing and new product launches.
- Support the creation of product imagery for marketing purposes as required.
- Provide technical visual communication solutions that align with the company’s branding and technical standards.
Process and Standards Improvement:
- Innovate and improve technical illustration standards and graphic principles.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, software, and processes to enhance the efficiency of technical design and illustration workflows.
Product Development and R&D Support:
- Support R&D initiatives by creating visual assets that align with product development goals.
- Contribute to the improvement of internal processes through visual representation of concepts and technical ideas.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in creating complex technical illustrations in an engineering, architectural, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated understanding of how to visually communicate technical ideas in an intuitive and clear manner.
- Proficiency in technical illustration standards and graphic principles.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience in creating animations and renders using tools like Keyshot or other rendering programs.
Software Skills:
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop).
- Experienced with 3D CAD programs (SolidWorks and Inventor).
- Familiarity with PDM systems such as 3D Experience or Vault.
- Experience with 2D CAD programs (AutoCAD).
Education:
- Degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or Product Design.
